Ever buy a candle in a glass jar that you love but once the candle is gone you have no idea what to do with it? Recycle it! Candles are made to have about half an inch of wax left on the bottom for fire safety. You can boil the glass jar in some hot water or use a candle jar warmer to melt the last inch of wax and then pour the wax into some disposable shot cups to use in a wax melt warmer later. The boiling should also loosen the glue on the bottom of the metal wick holder. Once you have the wax and wick holder removed you can wash the glass in warm water using a mild dish soap. Some glass is even dishwasher safe. Let air dry or dry with a towel. Now the jar is good as new.Â
For stubborn wicks adhered with high heat adhesives you can pour alcohol in the jar after removing the wax and let sit for a couple hours to loosen the glue. Glue removal products also work well.Â
Here is a list of uses for your new jar:
1. Small planters
2. Jewelry holder
3. Toothbrush holder
4. Pencil holder
5. Wrapped candy
